Of sea glass and clams...
As children, my brothers and I would visit this very same beach with our grandmother. There were the typical day outings, of course, but quite often after dinner, we would return to explore. I mentioned to Rich that our evening adventures always seemed to coincide with low tide. Obviously, my grandmother planned it that way but even now, I seem to associate low tide with early evening.
On this particular beach day with my children, my toes dug around in the wet sand searching for signs of clams. There weren't any. I searched through shells and rocks looking for sea glass and came up empty handed. I can remember when sea glass and clams were easy finds. Not so much all these years later.
(Allie insisted on wearing this floaty bathing suit thing that my mom had at her house. It reminded me of the puffy shirt Seinfeld episode. Anyway, we eventually trudged back up to the van so she could change into her regular bathing suit as the puffy one was a bit uncomfortable and she would have had to have waded out a half a mile or so from the shore line in order for the floaties to be of any use.)
Puffy round-offs...
Cartwheels...
Guess what Anna and Grammy found?
One lonely piece of sea glass.

Gorgeous pictures!
Your photos are fantastic! You are right, it's definitely harder to find sea glass than "back in the day." I have strong memories of being sent out at low tide to find clams. I loved digging in that wet black sand to find them. Fun times. It's neat that you can share those experiences with your girls.
You're giving your kids such an idyllic beautiful happy childhood! Great work momma!
Your photos are amazing... though you do get a lot of help from having such beautiful girls!
The children are really having fun. And they look so cute doing the cartwheel stunt. And I guess the low tide makes it safe for the children to play at the beach.
