North Conway, NH - Day 1

Sunday morning, we packed up the van and headed north.  Along the way, we met up with Rich's brother and family who are visiting from out of state and decided to join us for our NH trip.  Needless to say, the girls were extremely excited at the prospect of spending their vacation with not only one, but two, sets of cousins.  My brother and his family were driving up the next day and we all had plans to meet up.

At a "resting place."

It takes us about 3.5 to 4 hours to make the drive to North Conway.  We had left later in the morning so by the time we arrived at our destination, it was well past a normal lunchtime.  We went through a drive-thru for some food and of course, they didn't give us any ketchup which prompted Allie to create a Broadway-like song called "Where is my ketchup?"  Whenever we asked her a question, she would sing, "Where is my ketchup?"

Story Land has a special wherein if you purchase a full price ticket during the last three operating hours of the day, you'll receive a free pass for any other day during the current season.  Story Land was scheduled to close at 5 o'clock that day and we pulled into the parking lot around 2:30.  Perfect timing.

Their cousin, Clive, is the same height and I jokingly said that we should tell strangers that they are quads.  We actually did have someone ask if they were.  Ha ha!

A week before we left, we had Emily's BFF and family over for dinner and a play date.  They also visit North Conway each summer and when the discussion rolled around to the weather, I admitted that I had been avoiding the forecast.  If you've been reading here for awhile, you know that we have a tendency to vacation in NH when the weather is poor.  Not by choice, of course.  For packing (and alternative planning purposes), I did check the weather a few days before we left and there was a chance of rain showers each day.  Boo!

Waiting for drinks.  It was around 80 degrees but really high humidity.

Tell me that this topknot is not the the cutest thing ever!

Elmo joined us because, according to Allie, if he stays in the car for too long, he smells.

Waving to their cousin, Charlie.

We stayed at Story Land until it closed and then checked into our hotel.  All the kids went swimming while Rich and Don picked up pizza for dinner.  The rain moved in right before they returned with the pizza.  Perfect timing again.

Coming up next - our hotel and more landscape photos.

I dunno Sarah... Allie's comment about Elmo's smell MIGHT be cuter than the topknot. :)

Love the "Where's my ketchup" reminds me of the restaurant in the Disney's Wilderness Lodge that makes a big deal if you ask for ketchup. And the part about Elmo getting smelly reminds me of a little puppy Braydon sleeps with. I gave it to him the day he was born, and even though he has tons of stuffed "guys" that he loves, he has to sleep with this toy. Braydon says he needs a bath every Saturday or he smells. He told us the other day, he is kinda smelly on other days, but he has to wait until Saturday morning for his "bath" because other wise he would miss him too much. Love the Fancy Nancy fabric on the pretty sundress.

Clive looks like he COULD be a quad! He looks so much like them. Funny, we have a place in NJ very similar to this called "storybook land". The kids love going! ~Jenn
