I used the feliz dress pattern but I made some adjustments so that it is only a single layer and fits my skinny minis better.
I should have shortened the shoulder straps (and I will on the next one).
Here's a close up of the back and my adjustments. I used elastic cording to hold the tie straps in place.
Okay, these next photos flopped because the sun came out but I had to post them because they are hysterical. Allie ran outside with us, saying that she would help out.

Seriously your girls will treasure these my grandma used to make all our holiday dresses and lots of clothes and I remember picking out fabric and patterns with. I miss her so much and hope if I have girls someday I can do the same for them :)

Anon @8:13 - Have you met my kids? or any other 5 year olds? The tackier the better. This dress is for a day at Magic Kingdom and lunch with Pooh and friends so although character fabric is not at the top of my list of favorites, it would seem pointless to use fabric that wasn't themed.
My girls are 5 (in June) and 3 1/2. They would LOVE the character dresses! They are perfect for your trip.
The dress is adorable and she looks so proud wearing it.

Wanted to comment about Anna's narrow feet - have you tried Clark's for shoes? A physiatrist recommended them for one of my ID twins. They do come in narrow widths. You can order them from online shoe retailers, but I had the best experience when visiting the store to have them measure.

I think you are really talented at dress making! I love this dress but I do have to say that the fabric pattern choices are always so cheesy looking, like nurses scrubs or something.
Jan - Thanks for the heads up on Clark's shoes. I didn't know that they had narrow widths. The problem now is that she wants to wear the same shoes as her sisters (and I can't blame her) but it's good to know that we have that option.

I love that you make dresses that your girls want to wear, not necessarily what an adult would pick out for them. It's clear from their faces how much they love the dresses, and that's because they have a voice in the process (and because you're so talented at making them, of course). What a perfect dress for lunch at the Crystal Palace!
All of your girls will just shine during their Disney trip. I will keep my eye out for three little pretties this summer...lol.
Seriously, my granddaughter, Bailey, who turned 5 in Jan. would be dancing in the street in that dress. I will have to think about these dresses for her next trip with us. Right now she wants me to make her a "Mary Poppins" Jolly Holiday dress. You haven't made one of those have you?
My two and a half year old wanted to leave the house the other day wearing a piled high birthday cake hat, 4th of july sunglasses, mardi gras beads while toting a plastic toy case filled with a barbie wallet, pirate coins, more mardi gras beads...and don't forget the princess shoes to go to gym class.
And if I can convince her to wear a matching outfit my day is made! Your dresses are adorable and ideal for Disney. I wish I had an ounce of your sewing talent :)
To the fabric haters - did you know you can criticize without being rude? Why not merely say that the fabric is "not your style" instead of calling it "cheesy" or "tacky"? I don't think Sarah expects everyone to agree with her 100%, but life is too short to be mean, people.

Oh SOOO stinkin cute!! I love it!! I have yet to try the Feliz. My daughter is 10 and doesn't much care for a lot of customs anymore... :( I still get away with some. ;) I sew for boys mostly now...
When I first had my daughter (my 1st), I thought character stuff was kinda cheesy...NOT TACKY (just plain RUDE BTW!). Now I RELISH them! Funny how that happens! lol!! But either way I would NEVER have the audacity to think it OK to post that someone else's beautiful, HARD work was TACKY! I am so sorry for that.
Some people need to take a cue from Thumper's mama and papa, because apparently, their own didn't get through...Sad...truly, for them and their children.

I love this dress! And I love how you tweaked it to make it a lighter dress. The feliz is my all time favorite and that fabric is adorable!
Wow the rude comments still shock me. Although I am not a fan of character fabric I am also not a kid. Kids love that stuff. I think the dress is beautiful. And when I have kids someday I will sew them character fabric because I know they will love it. Seriously beautiful job. And I love how proud the girls are of your creations for them.
You are so talented! I sew for my kids too, and my prissy little girl would adore this dress, especially if I found some Sleeping Beauty fabric. Before I had kids, I swore that I would not put my children in character clothing, but they love them! It makes me happy to see her so happy about a silly princess shirt. And really, isn't that the reason we make frilly, ruffly dresses in crazy fabrics for our girls? To watch them twirl and feel like princesses themselves? I absolutely love seeing what you sew for your girls!
