CheeseBob and the Cuckoo Dollies

I thought I would combine some photos from a few weekends ago with recent sayings from the girls in an attempt to capture the musings of four year olds.

On Lovies

Apparently, Little Lion wants an apple picking birthday party. I never would have figured that out on my own. I don't even know when his birthday is.

In hindsight, I should have realized that Emily was coming down with something when she chose to snuggle on the couch in her pajamas instead of playing outside. (In addition to being oversensitive.) She was showing Little Lion her new bed {sigh} in the design magazines and pointed out to me that LL has invisible eyes.

On Fashion

I do have a fashion post or two lined up but for now, this will have to do.

On Television Characters

As I've menioned before, we try to limit the amount of time the girls spend in front of the televsion. A few SpongeBob items, such as stickers, pencils and a lawn chair, have made their way into our home. Since the girls don't watch the show, they don't know the character and have been calling him CheeseBob. At first Rich and I were confused until I pointed out to Rich that the character does look like a hunk of swiss cheese. It's so funny to us that we don't correct them.

On Preschool

The girls love to replay all the details of their school day, which is a huge difference from a year ago when we had to drag information out of them. Now, we know exactly what they are doing at school. One night, Emily was telling us about her day (in very fine detail) and it was taking a loooong time. Allie and Anna became a bit impatient waiting so finally Emily said, "I'll just finish the stories in my mouth tomorrow."

On Food

Much to my surprise, the girls will try more foods now and have been eating better. They like honey wheat sandwich flatbread and Allie and Em have been eating tuna. Raw veggies and fruit frequently on the menu include carrots, broccoli, apples, grapes and bananas.

Anna is still the only who will eat peanut butter. Emily and Allie say that their tongues and ears hurt after they eat it. I don't know how much of that is an exaggeration as they insist on sitting as far away as possible from Anna when she is eating it. It will be mentioned to their pediatrician at their next well visit. My youngest brother despises peanut butter and the girls' behavior reminds me of him when we were younger. Except that the girls don't have older siblings to smear peanut butter on them when Mom and Dad aren't looking.

On Creating Words

Allie has coined the word "hootish." Hootish refers to clothing with owls on it. "I like that. It's hootish."

On Bands

One night a few weeks ago, Grammy and the girls picked me up from the train station because Rich had the car and would not be home until later. As we pulled into the driveway, Allie said, "Mommy, remember when you went to the dolly show and then you put the dolly sticker on the van." I had no clue what she was talking about. No clue.

"The cuckoo dollies, Mommy."

Grammy and I finally figured out that she thinks the Goo Goo Dolls are named the Cuckoo Dollies. (I had found some vintage stickers (think Dizzy Up the Girl era for all you fans) and placed one on the back of the van.) I am still laughing about this.

It is possible to be allergic to something when your ears itch/hurt inside after eating the allergen.. Just saying :) Your girls are adorable!
