New (attempted) sleeping arrangements

I started this post a month ago. About time I finished it. Or did something with it.

So after sleeping together the night that I was puking, Allie and Em decided that they don't like to be alone at night and want to sleep with each other. I know. It sounds and looks adorable. Look at how adorable it is.

But it is not so adorable when Allie decides to kick Em out of her bed at 2:30 in the morning.

We had one night when Allie slept in Em's bed with her and woke up at 3:00 in the morning because she had to go to the bathroom. I got up because she leaves all the nights on and won't go back to bed by herself. Allie told that me that she wanted to go back to her own bed instead of Em's bed. Okay.

Allie is usually a good sleeper and usually stays in her bed but when she wakes up in the middle of the night, it can be hard to get her to follow The System. She'll beg and plead for me to sit with her and because it's 3:00 in the morning, I do. The last thing I need is for her to wake up or scare her sisters.

And then we had a few nights with Em sleeping in Allie's bed. Those ended with Allie kicking Em out of the bed at 2:00 AM. After the first incident, I tried to talk Em out of sleeping in there but she insisted. I pick my battles. Allie promised me that she wouldn't kick Em out and then she told Em to keep her feet on her side of the bed. (It was cute and funny.)

But she did kick her out of the bed. So I moved Em over to Anna's bed. Look at how cute Anna is sleeping with her pile o' dolls.

Anna didn't wake up during the move and seemed happy to discover Em in her bed the next morning. Anna usually sleeps well if she is not disturbed so I had been hesitant to offer her up as Em's sleeping buddy.

Besides Allie not wanting a sleeping buddy in the middle of the night, the main issue with this type of arrangement is that there are three of them so someone is always left out. Rich and I decided that the Sleeping Buddy Sleeping Program was not a good idea right now. It took about three weeks for the girls to finally give up asking about it.

Maybe when they are a bit older and sleeping better?

Kind of related - I'll have to write up a post regarding the not so awesomeness of cribs that convert to headboards and footboards.

So cute in the first picture :) :) And YES convertible cribs rock. I looked for a long time to find one I liked/could afford. This one also has a mid-stage "toddler/day" bed conversion which is great :)

You do so well to get these photos of your sleeping beauties. I do not dare go near Angus with a camera when he's asleep!

My girls are 6 and 8 now and still prefer to sleep together!

I so hear you on this sleeping situation. My twins are almost 3. They share a room and both have their own toddle beds, which they initially loved. D sleeps wonderfully. S decided she is afraid of her room so she wanted to sleep with D. It lasted one night. On the second night, S went to get in bed with her and D said no, you take up all my space. (too cute). So, now S sleeps on a little couch on the floor next to D's bed. Everyone is happy. I picked my battle. Sleeping in her own bed just didn't work.

My 2 love to sleep together but I don't want them to disturb each others sleep, so we just have their beds bumped up together so they are together, but not in the same bed.

I love love love their pillow pets! They're so cute! I have a unicorn one myself and it's withstood a lot of stuff(including all my friends holding it, coming on Band trips, going to the Beach, going on tour with my youth group and to Alabama). Your girls are so beautiful! It is my wish that when I grow old enough to get married and to have children I will have little girls that are just as beautiful and creative as yours are!

Funny, our girls are in a sleeping together phase. It hasn't hindered their sleeping through the night, so we let them (and I only have to make one of their beds in the morning). With only 2 girls we don't have the one being left out problem... that made me sad to read, so I'm glad they are back into their own beds and no one is left out.

Did you ever get to the review on the cribs? We have this crib for our daughter and are wanting to convert it into the "toddler bed" but cant find the rail... which rail did you purchase? How did yall go about converting them into full size beds?
