What a nice day!

The weather yesterday was almost near perfect. There were no clouds in the sky and the temperature hovered around 80 degrees making it warm, but not hot, in the sun and refreshing in the shade. The girls were awake veeeerrrrry early all three days this past weekend. Our day started before 6 o'clock both Saturday and Sunday. We made it until 6:20ish yesterday morning.

With the weather so nice, we decided to bring the girls to the watch the local Memorial Day parade. After dressing them, I tried to take some pictures (of course.) Em was grumpy and refused to sit with Allie and Anna. Finally, she walked over to the step/bench and joined her sisters. They hugged and kissed her in an attempt to raise her spirits.

Please excuse their hair. I had not yet tamed their morning bedheads.

The girls seemed to have enjoyed the parade but they still don't quite understand what it was. Some woman was handing out these red, white and blue necklaces. Again, the girls didn't really know what to make of it.

After an hour and a half nap (that's considered a good nap around here), the girls were ready to go crazy in the yard. When we finally managed to make our way outside, our neighbor had started the water running on the slip'n'slide. The girls ran over and started playing in the water. After it was decided that the girls and the little girl next door would be playing in the water for the afternoon, I ran in to grab bathing suits and everything else that goes along with water actitivies. There was no way, I was going to drag three screaming toddlers back into the house to change them. We threw down some towels onto the yard and set up a changing station and a sunblock station.

When I arrived back in the yard, I found the girls like this.

Wearing soaking wet clothes and socks with no sneakers. Needless to say, a few items needed to dry in the sun.

The girls had a blast and they were really well-behaved. It was like a mini-one-hour-vacation for me. I just had to sit in the grass and take pictures. No one took off running. No one tried to eat rocks. No one tried to push their sister backwards down the steps of the slide. It was beautiful.

The day was bittersweet for us though. Abigail's due date was Memorial Day. Not the date but the day. The month of May is a bit difficult for me as I know that I can't stop time. I can't stop the month from ending and June from beginning and all these days of memories from happening.

I'm still working on how I can stop August from happening this year.
Also, that is so cool your girls can play in the water like that! We have very, very strict water restrictions here, so no such fun to be had in sunny Australia! Thankfully when I was a kid, those restrictions were not in place!

I understand about wanting to skip parts of the year, but then I remember those that went before us, are just shining stars looking down upon us. The girls are so adorable, and they really look like that have such a great friendship. Thanks for sharing!

Great pics! Poor wet Lion; his (her?) little soaking wetness along with their sneaks was very cute.
And, I am so sorry Abigail isn't here to play too. I'm so very sorry about her loss. ((gentle hugs))

Bittersweet it the perfect way to sum uop the end of May/beginning of June for me. Thanks for posting on my blog, I have been thinking about Abbey lately. We visit the Angel of Hope every year, where Curtis has bricks, and lay flowers for him and 2 other women I have met in my loss journey who have lost babies right around the same time of year. I will lay one for Abbey at the angel this year as well.

I love those pictures of the slip and slide. Your girls always make me smile.
