An afternoon in P-town

This past week, we spent an afternoon exploring Provincetown, which is also known as P-town around these parts.  When we purchased the cottage, we were excited to be able to visit different parts of the Cape without the long drive from home.  P-town is at the very end of Cape Cod and, from home, we're looking at just over a two hour drive without any traffic.  With the cottage, that drive is much more reasonable.  We really could have spent more than an afternoon there.  This was simply just a taste.  Each area of Cape Cod is unique and offers something a little different.

The girls each picked out a painted wooden buoy for their rooms from Marine Specialties.  I loved this store.

We wandered into Town Hall to use the public restrooms and I was pleasantly surprised with what greeted us.  The building is a must see.  Antique and full of charm.

We ate dinner at The Lobster Pot, which we gave mixed reviews.  First of all, the people working there were super nice and it didn't take a long time for our food to be served.  The lobster roll, which looks deceiving in the above photo, did not have much lobster in it and I thought the meat was a bit tough.  In comparison, when we ate at The Skipper in Yarmouth the next night, the lobster roll contained much more lobster and the meat tasted better.  I ordered the clam chowder and while tasty, there was only one potato chunk in it.  The rest was all in very tiny pieces.  Allie ordered the clam chowder baked in a bread bowl.  This was the real winner.  I had thought of ordering this but knew she wouldn't eat all of hers.  That bread was crusty on the outside and freaking delicious.  Also, her chowder appeared to have pieces of potato in it so maybe I just got a bad scoop.  (We may never know.)

We'll be back.  There are some really cute houses there and I'd like to spend more time checking out the residential areas.  We really only scratched the surface.

Provincetown is our family home. I miss it terribly since moving to Maryland. Thank you for that post.

the food at The Lobster Pot is hit or miss - especially in the summer. It seems better in the fall and spring. Maybe because it isn't as crazy busy?
They make a great bloody Mary! My DH is still talking about it a year later.

A few years ago we took an "Art's Dunes Tour" and it was fantastic. Highly recommend it for next year. Or maybe the fall if we get a nice weekend.
