Fall last week

In an effort to enjoy autumn as much as possible, I'd been mentioning a day trip to Mount Greylock.  Mount Greylock, the highest point in Massachusetts, offers views of several states.  Think of all the autumn one can soak up with those views.  Approximately fifteen years ago, my parents and I did just that and it was quite a nice day.  In theory, with kids, it sounds wonderful but unfortunately, it's a two and a half to three hour drive away.  I can hear the groans now.  Rich researched hotels but being peak season, we were looking at $350 per night and I really wanted a day trip not a weekend trip.  Weekend trips require much more work.  Rich also asked what the plan for the day would be.  I didn't have a plan other than to enjoy nature and autumn.  I don't know.  I kind of thought the kids were old enough so that we didn't have to have a plan.  Sometimes I like to just figure things out along the way.  The kids were up for and interested in the trip, except for the driving portion of it.  So I finally dropped the Mount Greylock excursion for this year in order to save everyone from a minivan torture session.  Next year, they may not be so lucky.

Here's what fall looked like for us last week . . .

I love the colours on the trees. We are the opposite down in New Zealand with all the spring blossoms and yellow daffodils out now.
