Niagara Falls

We originally thought of spending two nights here which would have given us a full day for exploration.  A week before we left for Michigan, we cut it down to one night after Rich thought it would be nice to have a full weekend at home prior to returning to work.  I had some major sleep issues on vacation, mostly really light sleeping with some insomnia episodes so I was pretty happy to have a full two days to recover before dragging myself into the office.  Let's just say that that Monday morning was a tough one.

We didn't plan anything but to see the falls from the walkway and potentially go up in the Skylon Tower.  We didn't end up going to the Skylon because we had the view from our room.  Emily was the most bummed about that but I told the girls we would definitely do it the next time.  And there will be a next time.  The boat rides looked like they could either be an interesting experience or a harrowing experience so that's a a future maybe.

We were just there a few weeks ago on the Canadian side. We took the Hornblower Cruise (boat with the red ponchos) with my 5 year old twins and it was incredible. The kids had a blast and it wasn't too wild. I gets a little rocky as your get up to the horseshoe falls but nothing that I was worried about them falling over. You pictures of the falls are beautiful.

The Maid of the Mist ride (the boat with the blue ponchos) is awesome, and really not scary (and I don't like rides). My kids are younger, but I would take them on for sure (I just haven't yet, because as a single mom, I shy away from such busy places while my kids are so little).

That's really good to know about the boat rides. From where we were, they looked rocky and the kids had no interest in going on one.

Thank you for the photography compliments!

I've lived 40 minutes from Niagara Falls (Canada) for my whole life. I did the Maid of the Mist (now Hornblower cruise on the Cdn side) as a child and was amazed by the experience. I did it again last summer with my then 9 year old son, expecting that it wouldn't live up to my childhood memories. It did - and more! It was the most amazing thing. My son was a little apprehensive at first but was begging to go again as soon as we got off. Which we did, this summer. I think it'll be an annual thing now.
