Photos

Since the girls have been enrolled in ballet class, I've dreamed of photographing them wearing their dance outfits and ballet shoes in a large, airy dance studio.  In my mind, the wood floors will be worn in high traffic areas and large windows will flood the space with natural light.  (Ironically, it's also what I imagine my Plan C photography studio will look like.)  That's my dream.  This is my reality.

I didn't realize that there was another class beginning 10 minutes after the girls' class ended so when their instructor caught me ushering the girls back over to the bar with my camera in hand, she yelled, "30 SECONDS, PLEASE.  I HAVE TO PUT ALL THE MATS DOWN FOR THE NEXT CLASS."

Hi Sarah. I've been reading for about 12 months (from Australia :) ) Your girls are adorable and I love the cute anecdotes you tell, but mostly it's the photography that's drawn me here. It's been something I've been interested in for a while, and I've finally taken the leap and bought a DSLR and have been happily experimenting away (and gently persuading friends and family to let me practice on them, their kids and their pets! Lol) I've been reading a lot online about photography both before and after I took the leap and bought the equipment (for this incredibly expensive, but oh so addictive hobby) But a lot of the sites aren't great for amateurs just wanting a hobby (you've got to buy this lens, you need this piece of equipment.....overwhelming) I've read a few of your posts sharing what you've learnt before I bought my camera and found them to be really straightforward, but as they're not archived together I can't seem to revisit them without going through each post individually :( also, where do you go to learn about this stuff online, if you don't mind me asking? Your photos are gorgeous!!! Erin

Thank you!

Erin - My plan was to have links to my photography related posts under my "Photography" page (link at the top.) I still haven't gotten to it yet. I jump around a lot on the internet for photography stuff - I used to be on the photography board on the bump but then everyone jumped ship and it slowed down. I wish I could give you suggestions but I haven't found another message board that I like. Have you read "Understanding Exposure" - It's highly recommended. You can find used copies on Amazon.
