A little bit of sweet

I'm sewing the girls each a skirt for a Christmas gift.  I've been working in secret because I truly want it to be a surprise.  I needed to make a Joann run yesterday for some bright pink thread and because Allie has been in her "I need some special, alone time" mood, I asked her if she wanted to join me.  She excitedly said yes but then changed her mind because Rich was bringing the girls outside to play.  Emily opted to accompany me instead.

As we were heading out the door, Allie kissed the palm of her hand, then pressed it against the palm of my hand.  She told me that if I missed her while I was out shopping that I could hold my hand up against my heart and think about her.

Kids really know how to tug at those heartstrings.

Then while Emily and I were walking across the parking lot, I told her that she was being a little sweetie.  She kissed her hand and gently pressed it against my hand while nuzzling against me.  That was such an easy, stress-free outing.  With one kid.  We went to a smaller Joann and, of course, they didn't have any thread to match my bright pink fabric.  I have some dark pink thread at home so I'm going to have to go with that.  But they did have a new Minnie Mouse fabric.  I purchased 2.5 yards of it and the employee who cut it for me told us that it had just been delivered that Thursday.  So many sewing projects, so little time.

And last, but most certainly not least, there's Anna Banana.  In the midst of reading bedtime stories last night, Anna leaned into me and said, "I love you, Mommy."  She does that a lot these days - runs up to me for a hug and to say, "I love you" for no reason at all.

Your girls must have been reading "The Kissing Hand" recently...

They did read it the first week of school - it must have stuck with them!

I remember doing that to my mom when I was their age. :)

This is what is so adorable about kids. They will bring smile on your faces with no reason at all. These small moments that will always stay in our hearts will help us through the tough times too. I used to to do that a lot with my mom. Caring for the kids can be the sweetest thing in the world. By the way you are doing a great job in raising your daughters. Goodluck!
