I know being a triplet is hard. As your Mommy, I live it everyday. I break up fights over toys. I correct negative behavior generated by jealously and competition. I try to give 300% since cloning myself doesn't appear to be an option.
But being a triplet is also super awesome. Mommy and Daddy don't mind splurging a bit on your birthday party because it's only one party, not three. You always have someone to play with and when you're a little older, you'll discover sharing clothes and homework. If you are ever asked to share a unique fact about yourself (like at orientation for a new job), you won't have to search your brain for an answer.
Your Papa lost one of his brothers before I was born. Growing up, whenever my brothers and I would fight and argue, he would say, "These are the only brothers and sister you will ever have." It's a lesson I didn't understand until I was older.
Someday, Mommy and Daddy won't be around and so you will need to look after one another. It could be at the playground, or at school, or years and years and years from now. (And Emily, your offer to cath Anna was so very sweet. As was your concern over not being able to tell time and when you would have to cath her.)
It makes my heart happy to see you play with one another and I burst with joy when you hug or say that you love each other or even take over mothering duties. The other day, Allie, you told me that you should have had Emily, as in, you should have been her mother.
I write this now knowing that you won't read it until you are older. You don't ever have to worry about being lonely because you'll always have each other. Being a triplet is special. You have a bond that most can only dream of.

You are amazing, your kids are amazing. I cannot imagine the challenges, but they love each other, and their parents and that's how you know that kids are well raised.
One day they will read this, and cry like I did, but they will cry because they know they were SO SO SO loved!
Oh that is so beautiful, Sarah. Your girls are so lucky. And so are you.

curious: have you had their girls' 5-year checkup yet?
Love this post! I teared up over Emily's offer to cath Anna and her concern over not being able to tell when it was time... These girls are so very lucky to have each other forever and always! I love this post! Your girls are so lucky to have one another. I have a younger brother, but growing up I always wanted a sister, too. I can't imagine being one of triplet sisters! :) What an amazing bond your girls must share.
Oh my I love your post and your blog! Seeing your girls makes my heart happy - they are so sweet, adorable, beautiful! I am a momma to boy/girl twins that are 4 and when I have a rough day I can come to your blog and it always brings a smile to my face or puts my life into a much needed perspective. You are wonderful parents and you are so blessed to have those precious girls.
Thank you very much!
5 year check-up at the end of the month. We thought we had made the appointment but we hadn't so it's late.
=) You have wonderful stories. Aren't you lucky to have 3 girls !!! I have 5 boys including a set of Fraternal Twins. How was the Pregnancy and Birth? Keep up the great posts!!!
So refreshing to hear an honest account of life with identical siblings. I have identical boys (almost 2) and a 4 year old. And I too share your favorite activity - sleeping! Unfortunately it's an activity that doesn't get realized very often, does it! My boys fight fight fight, but luckily the biting stage seems to be fading away, and there is a glimmer of the companions they are to become. Thanks for this post.
