Anna

I didn't intend to be all dramatic and not post last night.

Grammy informed me earlier in the day that Anna had coughed and thrown up while climbing out of the van. She refused to eat any dinner - including saltines - so I knew what was coming. (I was in denial though.) I could hear her fussing in her sleep around 8:30 so I went up and sat in her bed with her. I even woke her up because she was so restless - I thought that she may be having a nightmare.

All of a sudden, she says, "Throw up - BLARG." Which gave me about a 10 second warning. Luckily, I was somewhat prepared and had a receiving blanket hanging on her bedrail so the vomit was mostly contained. She threw up a few more times - including on my arm - before Rich and I could clean her up and change the sheets.

I shared her bed with her last night. (And, yes, I was afraid I was going to get puked on.) She hasn't thrown up again and she actually slept soundly. This brings up concerns that her shunt isn't working properly but she says that her head does not hurt and this morning she has that sick look across her eyes. She was trying to eat a piece of toast when I ran out the door this morning.

My poor little bug was just getting over bronchitis. She still has the cough too. Hopefully, this will be short-lived.

I sincerely want to thank all of you for your comments of support. I'm slightly embarrassed to admit that I needed validation. I like to think that I'm a tough chick with the ability to not let others or ridiculous crap bother me. But I'm human. I have bad days and moments just like we all do. Thank you.

Poor Anna. Give her some snuggles from us and hope she feels better quickly.

And we all need validation in our lives. It's okay to need it. Promise. :)

Vomiting with a shunt terrifies me and that's just from having read stories of a few people.

Good thoughts.

Dear Sarah

I've been reading your blog for such a long time now and never left any message here.

But today you sound terribly tired and I just wanted to leave a smile and some sunshine behind.

I hope, Anna is doing better very soon! :-)

Greetings
Marisa

Don't be "embarrassed" for a second. That's one of the reasons I love my mom friends...it's so nice to have support from people who are in similar boats to mine.

You are a "tough chick" - you are raising Triplets and you are outnumbered! However you are human too - and someone challenged your parenting decisions - I would say you would want/need validation. It's ok, we all need validation and to hear that we are doing a good job! You are doing an awesome job.

I don't know if the commenter meant it to come across as mean, but that is how I read it - as mean. We encounter mean people in all phases and aspects of our life - work, play, grocery store, you name it - there are mean people out there that hurt our feelings. The trick is that we (especially me) have to learn to get what we need (validation, indignation, whatever) from a different source, lick our wounds and bounce back.

Your stories and pictures of the girls make me smile and I am sure that they make a lot of other people smile too......

Hoping Anna is on the mend and wishing you and Grammy happy thoughts today.

Poor thing! :(
I have the worst gag reflux, so whenever I read your posts about dealing with vomit, I cringe and immediately put you on a very high pedestal! I don't know how you can handle stomach viruses x3!

I didn't read any of the past comments and I have never commented before but I just want to say I really enjoy reading your blog. I am a fellow photographer and your blog is the only one I enjoy reading AND viewing the photography you post. Who knows why people decide to be mean, usually it is because they feel threatened or insecure regardless of whether you purposefully made them feel that way. Some people are just always going try and find someone else to make them feel just as lousy as they do. I hope Anna feels better, sometimes kids just get sick back to back, hopefully this means that they'll bounce back from it and you won't have any sick kiddos for a while after this. Thank you for giving me a nightly laugh or thought.
