Body by triplets

Okay, I did it. I ran tonight. I was (and still am) completely exhausted but it is almost July and enough is enough. I told Rich that if I don't get out there and do something, it will be October before I know it. A partial kick in the pants was a conversation about the Falmouth Road Race last night at a family party. Someone asked if I was going to run it this year. ::Sobbing:: I am not.

I haven't been for a run outside since October (maybe September) so I was having trouble remembering the mile markers from the 5K route that we had mapped out. It didn't help that I was running the route backwards either. I wanted to run out a mile and then turn around and run home. I thought that I could possibly keep my pace around 10 minute miles. I didn't expect to run faster though.

As I neared my turnaround spot, I wanted to cry because my stopwatch was 12:40. And then I passed a high schooler who was so pretty and young and fast and I wanted to cry even harder because the run home was slightly uphill, the wind was no longer my friend and I'm old.

Total time = 25:24

I clocked it in the car after the girls fell asleep. What I thought was a mile was really 1.2 miles so in total I ran 2.4 miles for a pace of 10:35 (according to an online minutes/mile pace calculator.)

So now I don't feel as bad but that was a tough run.

Hey, a run's a run.

My scale slapped me in the face this morning with a new all time high. Tomorrow I hit the pavement after a much too long break.

That's really good time foe your first run in almost a year! You shouldn't be so hard on yourself! I walk/jog almost every night but I don't think I could consistently run what you did without wanting to cry!

I loved reading this post and am super happy for you getting back into the swing of things, but I think I might have enjoyed Rich's comment a tad bit more. What a precious husband you have! :-)
