The identicalness of my identicals

The girls had their four year well visit last week. I had arrived home from the hospital at 1:00 in the morning so Rich told me to get some sleep and he brought them solo.

Here are the latest stats:

Height

Allie - 36.5 inches
Anna - 35.5 inches
Emily - 36.25 inches

Weight

Allie - 27 pounds
Anna - 25.5 pounds
Emily - 26.5 pounds

Now, I know that Anna is taller than 35.5 inches. I have a yard stick (3 feet) and she is the same height. Plus when we were at Disney back in November, she meet the 35 inch height requirement to ride Goofy's Barnstormer. (Kind of being sarcastic.) She stands at kind of an angle when she is being measured so I'm sure that took some height off.

Unfortunately, Anna experienced some not so nice side effects of the antibiotics she was taking. Yes, The Big D. And not just The Big D but Severe D. Rich and I were googling the side effects of the medicine and everything we read said to contact your doctor if you experience Severe D as opposed to The Big D.

So anyway, Anna lost some weight due to that. She had a kidney doctor appointment the week before and she weighed in at 26 pounds then. The girls' pediatrician was not concerned at all with their growth. He knew about the medicine side effects (we took her off of it for a day and gave her yogurt, which seemed to help) and the girls are still following their own growth curves.

Last month, Rich and I met with the girls' teachers for the last time this school year. (It seems a bit odd to be saying that.) The girls are all doing really well in school. They continue to be shy but have started coming out of their shells more.

I don't want to go into a lot of detail about the ratings or what the girls received for each category but as a recap, ratings are on a scale of one to four. Four means that the child has acquired the skill. By the end of the next school year, they should have mostly fours, which means that they are ready for kindergarten.

Excluding the categories of Fine Motor, Gross Motor and Personal/Social Development, both Emily and Allie each received four fours. In the same exact skills.
  1. Identifies basic story elements.
  2. Answers Wh questions.
  3. Sort/classify objects
  4. Counts accurately to 10.
Anna received two fours.
  1. Answers Wh questions.
  2. Recognizes/imitates patterns.

Allie was sitting on my bed watching television one morning while I was in the bathroom getting ready for work. I heard Anna pad into the room followed by Allie announcing, "I'm Allie," to her. I laughed and laughed because they do sometimes confuse who is who and Allie obviously expected Anna to not know who she was.

The real kicker was yesterday morning. As I was finishing up in the shower, I heard someone come into the bathroom. I pulled back the shower curtain to find Allie and Em sitting on the bathroom rug. Allie was holding the Minnie with the red dress (Em's) and another buddy of Em's and Emily was holding Elmo and the Minnie with the pink dress, which are Allie's buddies.

Allie looked at me and said, "Hi, Mommy. I'm Emily." I responded with, "Oh, hi Emily. Did you switch pajamas with Allie? I thought she was wearing those last night". Emily tried to play along like she was Allie but she was a little giggly. I wonder if they will pull that at school when they are older. Eeeek!

I love that Allie and Emily tried to pull one over on you - prepare yourself for future stunts :)

My girls like to pretend they are each other or their sister, too.

And I always wondered if identicals get confused by who is who. I think it would happen in quick glances.
Again, Love This Post - your girls are so funny.

so cute! That is so cute that they are already trying to trick you. I am sure the teachers will have a very hard time.
