This week.
I guess this picture pretty much sums up our week. Rich and I are feeling better but what a week for the girls to get sick. I checked Em's mouth tonight and another molar has just started breaking through her gums. No wonder why she woke up five times last night.
I ended up sleeping downstairs with Emily on Wednesday night. She kept waking up and by midnight I had already run into the girls' room a handful of times. I decided to change the normal "sleeping on the couch" routine and placed the couch cushions from both couches on the floor to create a bed. Em did really well with that and slept great. Once she settled down, we had a fairly decent night of sleep.
I did have to change her diaper and jammies at three o'clock in the morning when I discovered that she had wet through everything. She didn't fuss at all and then kept repeating, "We have to be quiet. We don't want to wake up sissies," in her normal voice, which is fairly loud in the middle of the night.
Allie seems to be doing much better now. We had a really rough night with her Thursday night. One of our problems is that if Em wakes up and Rich goes in there, she will start screaming for me. This means that I can't just sleep downstairs with Allie. Poor Rich was as sick as a dog and trying to calm Allie down so that I could stay on Em & Anna watch. Since Rich and I both had the same cold (or whatever it was), we know how bad the sore throat was. Allie was just miserable and running a fever.
Allie was basically awake or restless for five hours. I sent Rich to bed and stayed with her. I had to run upstairs to settle Em down twice during all of this too. I eventually allowed Allie to watch Sesame Street at 3:30 in the morning. After that one episode, she wanted to watch another one. I told her that it was in the middle of the night and the television needed to rest. She was lying next to me, so close to falling asleep when Em started up again. I had to run up there while Rich took over with Allie. Allie fell asleep for Rich and I ended up taking Em into our bed. She wanted to share my pillow with me and fell right to sleep.
Anna had a bit of a stuffy nose earlier in the week but doesn't seem to have had the full blown cold. This seems to be the end of it. {keeping fingers crossed} Sickness go away!
