Overrated?

Those who claim that sleep is overrated can come trade places with me for a night or two. I feel as if we've returned to the newborn phase here.

The girls have all been sick. I believe it all started with Anna's fever a few weeks ago. They've been feverish, had poop issues, no appetites and have just been grumpy in general.

Allie has been sleeping in the family room for the past two nights which means that Rich and I have been taking turns sleeping down there with her. She refused to nap in her crib today even though she was clearly exhausted and I ended up pulling her out of their room for fear that she would awaken the other two, who really needed to sleep.

Anna and Em both took an almost three hour long nap today. They NEVER nap for that long. It shows how exhausted they are. During an episode of Sesame Street, Allie fell asleep on the couch.

I'm sure that instead of spending the day tomorrow as a family, Rich and I will both be taking turns trying to catch up on some much needed sleep.

I'm so sorry to hear that the girls seem to think that 2ys old is plenty old enough for all nights raves. Might I suggest a 9 hour drive to PA? Maybe they'll sleep on the car ride, and if they don't you and Daddy can sleep when you get here! M&L and I will entertain :P

When we started having napping problems we set up a pack n play in the guest room and put Penny there. It has worked magic. Have you considered separating them just for naps?

My trio is sick as well. It's just not fun. It won't (can't?) last forever right? Friday night my husband and I got 3 whole hours of sleep and I thought the same thing 'are we back and square one????' I was like a mama bear that was rudely woken up in the middle of winter yesterday!!!! But they're getting better which is what we want. Hope it works out well for you guys. ;-)

I would also suggest trying to separate them for naps. I leave one of my girls in her crib and then put the other two in pack-n-plays in separate rooms. I did this when they were about nine months old and it has worked great ever since! Good luck and I hope you get some rest soon!
