My friend, Regan, had her twins 9 months before my girls were born. I remember her telling me that the triplets would be the smallest babies I had ever seen. And they were.
Between their clothes and all the blankets, it was easy to hide their tininess.
I kept the ankle bands that the girls wore in the hospital. The one that I treasure the most is the one that fell out of Anna's NICU laundry bag when I dumped her clothes into the washing machine.
Here's a picture of it next to a quarter. I brought it back to the NICU. Of course, by then it had already been replaced. Her ankle was so tiny that the band had slid off when a nurse had changed her clothes.
