What's up for the rest of the summer

I like to have a lot of down, unscheduled time in the summer for the girls.  Yes, it sometimes leads to more button-pushing (Emily is pretending her doll has a mechanical bird with a camera in it and it's spying on my dolls and it's really annoying!) but they have soooo much scheduled during the school year, I feel like they need a break.  Plus, routines drive me crazy after awhile so this is a break for me too!

Because the girls belong to a dance competition team, the studio requires them to take a comp class over the summer.  I'm completely fine with this because they love to dance and it gives them something to do and work on. There are other summer dance classes and sometimes they take one, sometimes not.  It depends on whether or not I want to dish out more $, or what plans we have already or even what classes are being offered.

Their competition class runs for five weeks and last week, they had an additional master class taught by a dancer in a Broadway show.  He worked those kids!

Emily and Anna had appointments with the orthodontist last week.  (Allie is on a different schedule because she had a retainer to fix that shark tooth issue.) Yes, braces times three is coming our way.  For anyone interested in identical triplet stuff, they all have crowding and overbites.  After some back and forth, we finally have appointments for Anna with a new urologist.  He decided to run some tests right off the bat and of course, they were booked for the summer so I had them break up the appointments in order to schedule them for August.  One of the dates they gave me (keeping the appointments together) was for the first day of school and I was like nope, that is not going to work.

Middle school is no joke and there's a ton of work involved, more so for Anna because of her hydrocephalus.  I try so hard to make sure she doesn't miss any school because of appointments.  For us, you have to give yourself 90 minutes to travel into the city.  Even Waltham can be well over an hour's drive with traffic.  An appointment at 10:00 and she may be able to attend the last two or three classes of the day.

It looks like our visit to the Florida Keys will be our only travel this summer outside of time at the cottage.  When we're at home, there's plenty of swim time and mini pool parties with friends.  I actually like when the girls have friends over because the house seems less chaotic.

The girls do have summer reading requirements for school.  They need to read two books - one from a fairly long list and one of their choice.  They will be tested on the book they read from the list.  They are allowed to take notes and bring those notes to school.  I'm assuming the test is the same as those they took this past year in Literacy.  That test was online and consisted of 10 multiple choice questions.  We know many older kids or kids with older siblings at dance and no one has said anything about this so I'm assuming it's not a big deal.

A nice, easy remainder of the summer coming up!
