This is Cape Cod

I noticed the other day how the hydrangeas have begun to fade.

And the season for beach roses is over.  I took this photo just in time.  I love how they grow like weeds, surviving major hack jobs.  If the roots are still there, it will come back.  There are beach roses on our property line and our neighbor loves to have her handyman cut back all of her plantings every spring.  Last summer, the roses were growing like crazy and she had him cut them all back a couple of months ago.  Rich moved some of the sprouts over in front of our outdoor shower and they are growing beautifully.  I'm pretty sure they'll hang in there.  We (aka Rich) need to move some more.

We've had such great weather this summer.  Yes, quite a few heat advisories, even for the Cape, which is rare.  Good beach weather.  The rain seems to be sticking to weekdays.  It hasn't rained on us yet down at the cottage.  If it had, maybe I would have more painting finished.

Some of Rich's family was renting nearby last weekend, so we hung out with them at the beach.  The girls loved playing with younger cousins and the water at our Nantucket Sound beaches is considered "warm" now.  No doubt from the hot weather we've been experiencing.  I'm sure it's not warm if you're from the South, but it's definitely warm for us.

I haven't captured any OMG sunsets yet but we do like to go walk the beach at dusk.

Great post. We're headed down there in 2 weeks. Where were the last two pictures taken? I'd love to take my kids (5 and 8) there. Thanks!

Hi, that is the rock wall at Sesuit Harbor. You can access it from Cold Storage Beach - no parking fees or stickers required in the evening.

Thanks so much! We are staying in Yarmouth Port, so this works out perfectly!

I have always wanted to go to Cape Cod/Nantucket. I live in Vancouver, Canada so pretty much the exact opposite side of the continent. But one day I will make it to your beautiful side!

Sarah, you captured quintessential Cape Cod!
Remind of us this post when we are in the doldrums of winter.
