We checked on the cottage several weeks ago during a semi-warm (which means not freezing cold) weekend. There's a certain sense of calm to a deserted beach. Ice cold water numbing your toes through waterproof boots. The lapping of waves the only sound. The never-ending ocean. Warm clam chowder. Empty streets. Boarded up cottages. Counting down the days until warm weather returns.
