Favorite Vacation Spot

I wanted to link up with Kelly's Korner Show Us Your Life - Favorite Vacation Spots but I don't really have one post to link to so here's a summary....

Having three little ones changes vacation priorities.   One of our favorite vacation destinations with the girls has been Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.  My absolute favorite vacation spot of all time though is Hawaii and some day we will be returning, this time with the girls (and Grammy because she's never been and she really, really wants to visit Hawaii.)

Our first visit to Disney was in November of 2010 when the girls were 3.5 years old.  We stayed at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort.

(Emily still has and wears that brown skirt!)

We had a great time and learned so much about planning a Disney vacation.  My trip report for that vacation starts here.  (You can just click on 'older post' at the bottom of the page to read the rest of the posts.)

Our second trip to Disney was this past August when the girls were 5 years old.  We drove again and stayed at Disney's Beach Club Resort.

We had planned this vacation for months and months and then Allie ended up having an allergic reaction to Advil and spent most of the trip miserable.  I felt absolutely horrible about the whole thing.

That trip report starts here.

With Rich at home (and not having to worry about taking time off from work) and my vacation bank overflowing, we decided to take another vacation to Disney this past December.  I never imagined myself vacationing at Disney twice in one year but I felt like the girls (especially Allie) missed out on a true Disney vacation and it's something I wanted them to experience while we had the opportunity.

We flew this time and stayed at Disney's newest resort, Art of Animation.

I've been reading your blog for ages, but it wasn't until this post and seeing how TINY the girls were that I realized I'd really been watching them grow. Thank you so much for sharing with us. :)

I love reading your Disney trip reports. They are so helpful! I really enjoyed the pictures of the Art of Animation resort. I saw a commercial on TV the other night for an indoor waterpark resort called Great Wolf Lodge and it looked like the sort of place your girls would enjoy. I was reading your blog at the time, so of course I thought of you and wondered if y'all had been!

I just LOVE the dresses you make for the girls! We are going to WDW in October with our daughter and I have been searching Etsy for similar dresses... any chances you might open up a shop :-)

I know - I can't believe how little they were!

The only time I've heard of Great Wolf Lodge was when a blogger out west went with her kids. We've never been - I don't think there are any around here - I'll have to look it up on the internet.

Kate - Thank you :) Unfortunately, no shop for me. I just don't have the time right now with work.

Hi there...the girls are precious and have grown so much! I was wondering: with Anna's condition, has any physician or you wondered about her ability to do more, feel stronger on her feet, or more stable perhaps, if she wore more supportive shoes? not talking about orhopedic shoes, but more the European-type shoes that support the ankle well and have good arch support. Plenty of them on zappos.com, not cheap but do you think that it would help her?
not critizing by any means, i hope you know that, i was just simply wondering...have a great day! kelly

Hi Kelly - There have been many discussions regarding shoes. When she first started walking, she had shoes that gave her more ankle support. Now, her issues stem from the fact that she has low muscle tone/is weaker in her legs so more supportive shoes won't necessarily make walking easier for her. That being said - there are certain shoes we avoid to help keep her from tripping, such as crocs, flip flops and certain sandals. (When she tires, she tends to drag her feet and/or trip easily.)
