A conversation

Me - "You guys aren't going to work for the man when you're older.  You're going to be artists or fashion designers or have your own company."

Emily - "I want to work at Target."

Me - "Oh.  Okay.  If you want to work at Target, you can certainly do that."

Emily - "I'm going to say that everything costs 50 cents."

Emily - "And I'm only going to work on Tuesdays."

Me - "Oh? Okay."

Emily - "Anna's going to work for the man."

Me - "She is?"

Emily - "She's going to be a little tax return mouse just like you."

Tax return mouse = On the Grown Up page in our Richard Scarry book, there's a little mouse sitting at a typewriter.  She's supposed to represent secretaries but whenever the girls ask me where tax return people are on the page, I point to the mouse because it's the closest resemblance.

I miss those childhood days when you thought you could do whatever you wanted when you grew up like working only on Tuesdays.
I only want to work on Tuesdays.
