That's Allie, Anna and Emily. Identical triplets who will be five years old next week!
I have three younger brothers and while I appreciate how lucky I was to have playmates and partners in crime, I always wanted a sister. Brothers aren't interested in dolls or pretend dance classes or Barbies or fashion or hair or make-up or clothes. We spent a lot of time riding bikes, hiking in the woods and playing kickball, baseball and kick the can.
As a kid, I so badly wanted to take dance lessons but my parents signed me up for pee wee baseball instead and pee wee baseball in 1980 was played with a real baseball and boys. So as you can probably imagine, I signed my girls up for a dance class (tap and ballet) as soon as I possibly could.
And there's gymnastics too!
While I revel in our world of glittery shoes, hair accessories and princess dresses, my girls also enjoy t-ball (at home - they are too young to play for the town right now) and digging in the sandbox. And that's okay. I want them to be well-rounded and independent and strong.
