Okay, enough from Dolly. I actually did work from 9 to 5 today. It's Saturday.
Accounting and I clicked when I was in high school. I have a degree in Business Administration but Accounting was my major. It doesn't matter if you work in tax, audit or general accounting, there is always going to be a busy time.
I ended up interning for one of the Big 6 (at the time) public accounting firms during college and stayed there for five years after graduating with my degree. Leaving was probably one of the best career moves I made. I cannot imagine working the hours that I did with kids. There was one year that I worked 90 hour weeks the two weeks leading up to the 9/15 filing deadline. That included working all three days of the holiday weekend.
So, yeah, I shouldn't complain but sometimes it's tough.

Eek! Well then...um, I'm glad you ONLY worked 9-5 today? Is that the right response? I can't imagine 90 hour work weeks, that's just awful!
I hope you actually get a day off with the girls tomorrow!
I feel for you, five times a year I have to work an 80 hour week, without extra pay or time off. Next week is one of those and I'm already grumpy about it.
Hope you get to relax and enjoy the rest of your weekend tomorrow!
I haven't commented before but I have read along for a while. I am about to have my third girl (over 7 years, though) in a week and a half, and my husband is a CPA. And this baby will be born January 19th, and our first daughter was born January 14th. But yeah his busy time is basically from September through April now - though he does mostly auditing, he also has required Saturdays during tax season at his firm. It's tough, especially as the girls get older, and question it more and more. :( Sounds like you made the right choice to leave the big 6 firm.
Your girls are beautiful, btw!!! Our girls do gymnastics, too.
