Still posting about those beach plans

Okay, I'm back. As much as I would like to post everyday (and believe me when I say that there are some days I have enough material to post twice), I sometimes physically cannot do so. I have been so tired recently and all of a sudden last night, I felt so sick. All I could do was crawl into bed and pass out.

So when Anna and I returned from our walk, we found two shivering munchkins bundled up and eating a snack. It was around 5:00 so we decided to pack up and head back to Grammy and Papa's for dinner. Because Grammy had already cooked a lot of hamburgers and hot dogs that day, Rich and I offered to treat everyone to dinner. There is a take-out seafood place (a clam shack, if you will) the next town over that is our go-to place for these types of meals.

I quickly changed Em and Allie out of their wet bathing suits and into these beach cover-ups. And then I decided that a picture of all three in their terry cloth cover-ups would be adorable.

Anna was so mad at me for making her wear that thing. She ripped it off as soon as I took these. So much for that idea.

All afternoon, I had been slobbering over the thought of consuming a lobster roll. Well, apparently I wasn't the only one. Rich and my brother, Patrick, called and called and called the clam shack. No one would answer. I suggested that they just drive over there, place the order and wait. My niece, Maggie, was also visiting and we needed to feed all of the kids their dinner. This is the preferred method (adults eat after the kids).

Is it just me or does anyone else have kids who will not just sit and eat? I feel like I spend the entire meal telling them to sit back in their seats and finish eating. Stop doing that. You are going to choke. Are you done eating? No? Well then, sit your bum back down and finish, please. And again, they are borderline underweight so I refuse to take away food as punishment.

Our dinner? Days later and I am still crying over the fact that I did not get my lobster roll. They ran out and because an hour was lost with that fiasco, we ended up eating pizza. Boo!

While our dinner plans were being flushed down the toilet, I realized that there was no way we were going to make it back down to the beach for a photo shoot. We were losing light too fast and Em was back in her pajamas. {Sigh.} I couldn't blame her though because it was chilly. I had long sleeves on by that point as well.

I attempted to take some portraits while we waited on the front porch but by that point, we were approaching Crazy Time and no one would really sit still.

The best I could get of all three of mine. The hair over Allie's eye is bothering me.

I don't know if I should admit to this or not but I've been calling Em "Heff" because H.u.g.h Heff.ner is the only other person I know of who can get away with wearing pajamas all the time.

Because it was going to be a late night, we brought the girls' pajamas with us and changed them for the ride home. (Well, I didn't really need to change Em.) We were hoping that they would fall asleep on the drive back and then we could simply carry them up to their beds.

This is what they told me when I told them to just close their eyes and go to sleep: "But it's not snuggly in our car seats. And we don't have our pillows and blankies." (That's a direct quote from Allie.)

Em did fall asleep. Allie and Anna did not. We arrived home after 9:30. Let's just say that we had some grump balls the next day. BUT we had a fun day and that's more important than photos or tired kids or tired moms or lobster rolls.

I have the same eating issue with my two year old son most of the time. He's also a skinny mini (consistently off the charts for height but only in the 40th percentile for weight) so I let him get away with it because I really hate it when I can see his ribs.

Love the pics of Anna pouting!

I *dream* of lobster rolls but living in the midwest doesn't make it happen tooo often.

"Heff" - I love it! I could call my son that. Then again he call me it right back. When I walk in the door after work it is his cue to put jamas on because that is what Mama does.

I don't think I have ever had a lobster roll. I live in the midwest. I guess I don't know what I am missing.

My son spends some days in his PJs... but mostly because I am lazy. Ha! ;)

Now you've got me craving seafood!

Your pictures are absolutely stunning (beautiful subjects help): Do you do any editing on the pictures afterwards?
