Providence Children's Museum

Saturday morning, Rich and I brought the girls to the Providence Children's Museum for their first visit. It's funny because on the drive there, I thought, "The girls are almost four years old and we are just going now for the first time." It didn't take long for me to realize why that was. Those places become very crowded very quickly and loud, big, running kids can easily scare my little, quiet kids.

One of Rich's sisters gave us free passes that she had won through a charity action/raffle thing. Without those passes, it would have cost our family of five $42. I don't know if all libraries work this way but I know that ours does have passes for different museums in the area that we can check out. There is a limit on how many passes can be checked out at a time though and we wouldn't be able to check out five.

The girls had a ton of fun!

That is Anna in the background but, no, she does not have a black eye. She woke up with these pimple things around her eye. She had one on Friday morning and then some more on Saturday morning. I thought that she was either getting pink eye (but there was no goop) or her skin was just irritated. It was all clear on Sunday.

Because the passes expire on March 31st, I checked the online events calendar for the museum and saw that on this past Saturday, they were having a doctor type event. One of the activities allowed you to prepare a doctor's kit and care for a teddy bear. I have to tell you that the girls were so cute doing this.

The best part was that the girls were able to bring the teddy bears and all the stuff home.

Allie named her bear Coffee. Although tonight, she told me that the bear's name is Sarah. Here she is reading to Coffee/Sarah.

We did some research online and found out that there is a small parking lot in front of the museum that fills up fast. There is other parking in the area and if you are going there on the weekend, parking probably won't be a problem but it was nice to park right in front. The museum opens at 9:00. Our goal was to get there right before 9:00 and of course that didn't happen. I think we pulled into the parking lot shortly before 9:30 and then I cathed Anna in the van before we went in. (Stay tuned for an upcoming cathing post.)

If we ever visit again, we will definitely arrive right as doors open. There were considerably more people there at 11:00 than at 9:45.

Sarah, we're so glad that you and the girls enjoyed your visit and hope that we see you again soon. Your photos are absolutely AMAZING!

Our local children's museum is $10 each, so it's crazy to go. A yearly membership is MUCH cheaper and if we went more than twice a year I might think about it.

We also try to get right there at 9am on weekends.

Once a month they have a special needs night where families can get in for $2 or free depending on which organization you belong to. We were invited by the March of Dimes for one night, and it was worth keeping them up late.

Thanks, everyone!

And thank you, Megan!!!

Michele - if we were able to get there more often, I would definitely consider a membership too

I found your blog through another blog that I follow. I kid you not, I have juse spent my whole sunday reading every entry of your blog. Those infectious little grins they have would be absolutely amazing in one child, but seeing it threefold is amazing. You are one lucky mommy, and those three little angels are very lucky to have you. Thank you so much for sharing your life with us. You rock!
