Trimming the tree

When the girls were babies, Rich and I drove by a Christmas tree farm one weekend. It was December and I caught a quick glimpse of normal families engaging in a fun family activity from my car window. "Do you think that maybe next year we can come back here and get our tree?" I asked Rich. "We could make it a family tradition."

As with the cookies, we are looking at next year. Maybe.

For the past three years, Rich has stopped at the local stand run by the Boy Scouts and grabbed a tree. This year was no different.

Before we could decorate the tree though, the girls had to play with the ornaments.



Shortly after I took that picture, I noticed all these little pieces of something all over the floor. "What is that?" I asked the girls.



That's Allie checking out her ornament. "Oh, I broke it."



I wanted to take pictures of the girls decorating the tree but because the tree was so big and in the corner, a lot of the pictures look like this.





So I decided to use the 85mm for some arty photos.

With the tree just about decorated, Em asked to watch the Grinch movie.



And then ironically enough, the Grinch song came on the radio. Which made Anna a little nervous.

"You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch."



"You're a monster, Mr. Grinch."



Daddy, are you watching the tree?



(Note for those of you who may be wondering about Anna's outfit choice. We had attended a family Christmas party at my brother's house earlier in the day. My sister-in-law had purchased matching pajamas for all of the little ones to wear. Of my crew, only Anna would wear hers. I had purchased those black Buster Brown shoes earlier in the day for her. She tried them on when I arrived home with them and then insisted on wearing them around the house for the remainder of the day. I know sometimes people wonder if she is wearing certain footwear due to her spina bifida. In this case, no. She is just being a three year old!)
