Great Strides, Saturday Part I

We had a wild and fun day today. In some ways, it is easier with the girls now. In other ways, it is more difficult.

Rich and I, along with the girls, participated in a Great Strides walk with many members of Rich's family. The walk was to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Rich's niece, Julie, passed away from complications related to CF when she was only 13 years old. Rich is a carrier of the CF gene. There is a 50% chance that the girls are carriers as well.

I'm glad we were able to attend and the girls had a great time. It was definitely a new experience for them and for us as well.

Can you find Rich? The walk would have been too much for them to do with their own little legs so we strapped them into the triple stroller.



The girls looked so adorable before we left the house this morning, I took some pictures. When don't I take pictures? I didn't think that the opportunity would present itself again during the day. Well, I ended up taking 100 pictures at the walk. Which is part of the reason for the two part blog post.



We arrived early (yes, a first!) and decided to let the girls run around before the walk started. There was a ton of open space and the girls were slightly in shock. They really didn't know what to make of all the people and dogs at first.

Here they are frozen. I think they wanted to ask, "What are we supposed to do now?"

Sometimes Rich and I find it amusing to keep track of how many comments we receive. Amazingly enough, I don't think I heard one "Ya sure got ya hands full" today. The first woman to comment said, "Nice babies." And then, as I was taking the above picture, I had a couple behind me watching us and commenting on how cute the girls are and how they aren't old enough to say, "Come on, Mom, hurry up," because I was messing around with the ISO setting on the camera.

I did find it interesting to hear quite a few people say, "Oh, look at the cute triplets. They are all dressed alike." I realized that many strangers immediately identified them as triplets because they were all dressed the same. I have to admit that it is easier to keep track of them when they are dressed this way. One, two, three. One, two, three.

There was a ton of donated food there today so the girls enjoyed donuts, turkey subs, potato chips (a first) and cake. Yes, all extremely healthy.

It's 8:26 pm right now and the girls are still awake. Because I have so many photos from the girls' impromptu photo shoot, I'll post them tomorrow along with a mini version of the rest of our day.
